A beautiful and responsive longboard, and fun for any experience level. The Gem can hold its own in little ankle biters to just overhead waves. It's super fun, incredibly versatile, and the Timbertek isn't just pretty-- it's durable, too. If you're looking for a longboard with some performance, the Gem is true to its namesake.
The Firewire Gem TimberTek Surfboard proves that alternative thinking leads to wonderful developments. The Gem is a collaboration between Dan Mann and 3X World Longboard Champion Taylor Jensen. Taylor asked Dan to consider a ‘one board in the trunk’ option for longboarders who want both trim and turns; he was essentially asking Dan for a design that would land somewhere between his TJ Pro and his TJ Everyday.
Dan’s response was an intriguing intersection of shortboard style concaves with a longboard style outline and the same fin placements that Taylor likes in all his boards. He and Taylor decided to call this model The Gem because of how valuable it is - a one board quiver for 9 foot plus board riders that can trim on the nose as easily as it can carve on rail. The diamond tail isn’t a coincidence. It’s a Gem!

TimberTek Technology
Firewire's TimberTek construction represents a significant step forward towards the holy grail of any product designed and manufactured in today's environmentally conscious world. Firewire's TimberTek has by far one of the least toxic and smallest carbon footprints of any commercially available surfboard today. The combination of a lightweight EPS core, sustainably-grown Paulownia wood deck skins, Firewire's proprietary parabolic rail construction, and an Entropy bio-resin hot coat yield an extremely lightweight, durable surfboard with ALL of the high-performance flex characteristics of Firewire's existing technologies.
